Spooky Healthy Halloween Snacks
With Halloween right around the corner it’s easy to dive into the kids candy bowl and eat too many sweet things. Nuez de la India put together a bunch of great ideas for you to use when the candy bowl calls. It’s so much fun to go Trick-or-Treating with your family versus sitting around feeling sick to your stomach after going crazy with a seasonal treat. Sometimes it’s just easier for you to focus and stay on track. After all, using Nuez de la India has always been a breeze.
Having healthy, easy snacks around the house makes it easier for you to put together terrifyingly amazing treats. If you’ve been using a meal plan or trying to stay clean simple items like fruit, peanut butter, cheese, grapes and other veggies are a great way to mix things up.
If you want to make super spooky food with eyes all you need to do is lightly peel an apple or two, maybe grab a green one to add color to your snack, and then half the apple. Make two small slits in the apples, while they are ‘face’ up. You can put in chocolate chips, cacoa nibs, raisins, and other tasty objects to give your apple a little scary face. If you want to cut the apple up into quarters, smear the apple with peanut butter and plop on some marshmallows. Take another apple quarter and put it on the marshmallows, peanut butter side down. When you turn the apple sandwich around you have a scary mouth which is also incredibly adorable at the same time. If you want to give your mouth some friends then half a bunch of bananas and drop on three cacao nibs in the shape of a face. Spooky!
Turning delicious things like tangerines into pumpkins is easy with a celery stick or two. If you are feeling creative, then it is easy enough to pop some popcorn (which is fun for the entire family) and fill up some latex gloves. Adding candy corn at the finger tips lets you make creepy witch hands that everyone will love.
Don’t overlook the classic roasted pumpkin seeds. Everything about a pumpkin, especially this time of year is delicious and guilt-free. Carving a pumpkin is a great way to hang out with visitors and your family but roasted pumpkin seeds are always a hit. Spread them out on a baking sheet and then roast until they smell like they are ready to eat.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be a total drag this time of year. Having a healthy snack with your family makes staying on track all that easier.
